They probably won't be able to tell you anything, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Sometimes I get a tech that is helpful and others times it is often "oh not Time Warner's problem - everybody's else has a problem. We will see.

The reason this gets irksome is sometimes I wait so long that I think a message did not go and I hit the send button again and then get a double screen or two postings on a site. Or else in trying to see if a message went, I lose it altogether in fussing around. Well, if not resolved, will be interesting to see how it goes on Win 7 when I get it installed.

What you're describing could just be something with a particular website too. Sometimes even Mystery Manor is painfully slow. Then a few minutes later it will be fine. But it definitely doesn't sound like the problem is the browser.

Will keep what you say in mind as I work with this problem. Calling TW today to see what their techs have to say.

Out of curiosity , how much of your cpu is your browser using when you notice this happening ? You can see cpu usage with the task manager . Pressing control , alt , & delete will bring up the task manager .

Good question, Faust. This is a pretty fast computer which she had eCollegePC build for her about a year and a half ago.

It's something I had thought of . I've had a similar problem happen before .

Have browser open as I read your comment and CPU is jumping back and forth between 1-2-3. So did I do it right?

If you're looking at the graph, that's indicating it only using 1% - 3% of it's capacity - virtually nothing.

Yep was looking at that graph. Also called Time W and they took me through a path on the browser - tools-clear recent history-clear did that and though the check marks did not vanish, TW tech said that is OK just leave them and see how the browser does.

Well it seems to work faster now have to say. Not clear how this path does that because I am forever doing the crap cleaner program and I thought that cleared the history?

Anyway seems a bit faster so will let well enough alone for now. Eager to get the Win 7 installed to see what happens then.

Things that make you go hmmm........ Clearing the browser's history would not effect/should not effect how fast the browser renders pages . I wonder BD , if the TW rep didn't have you clean out your browser's cache as well ? In any event , if things are working well enough for you to function , then that's what matters . As for your migration to Win 7 , congrats ! I left XP over a year ago , & I'm not sorry I did !

Hate to be negative, after all Time Warner people have to make a living too, but am always hesitant to accept their diagnosis of problems because often it is to get them off the hook I think. Anyway soon as I can want to go to Win 7 and then see how things fly.

Nice to hear how much you and draclvr like Win 7. Will take some getting used to for me as I have it on my laptop but have not had the time or inclination to really study it as it is uncomfortable to work on my laptop right now where it is.

Actually BD , I left XP for Vista . Yeah , that horrible , no good , OS . Bollocks ! I use Vista Ultimate 64 bit actually . After I applied both service packs , & applied updates , I've found there's nothing I can't do . The only games I can't play , are a very few of my older Win 95 games . I'm sure I will migrate to Win 7 at some point . Not for the immediate future though . I'm going to upgrade my computer a bit . A new mobo , a new video card (so I can run 2 cards at once) , & new ddr3 ram .

Whatever would this generation do, young and elderly, without the fun, challenge and help of PCs. Sure is a boon to me since I cannot get around as much as I used to or want to now. My mind is always soooo active that if I don't have something to keep it busy, I can get either worked up into a frenzy or become depressed.

So between reading the news, following crime reports, playing games or playing mind games to keep the old noggin alert and in shape, I find my PC great resource of fun and challenge.

AM an avid jigsaw addict and Peter's jigsaws are getting more and more challenging as I download the new ones - keeps me occupied for some time. :geek:

Now with trying to adapt to RPG games - more challenge.
