It says you have a "USB composite device" that's plugged into a low speed USB port.
Do you have anything plugged into your computer's USB ports other than a mouse or keyboard? Anything like an external hard drive?

Now that is strange... This is BD's new computer which doesn't even HAVE any of the old 1.1 USB ports. If it persists, I would try plugging your USB devices into different ports.

Have a printer, mouse and a router plugged into ports. Maybe it is the router since my PC is slow now and am trying to think/find ways to speed it up a bit AND if will get a 'no signal' message when I log on. Uncertain how that plugs into the equation. I called Time Warner about it and they said the modem needed refreshing.

However, the often say that for some things I call them about. Don't know the tech part here enough to believe them or not.

I have an external hard drive but it is not plugged in all the time - just when using it.

The modem will be plugged into an Ethernet port, not USB. Refreshing a modem is always a good idea to start with when troubleshooting them.

Like I said, if it persists, just plug your USB components into different USB ports. Maybe one of them went bad - it's not unheard of.

Got that message again re the ports and faster speed. So I did as you suggested and replugged everything but got the message again.

When you refer to ethernet ports draclvr do you mean the ports in the front of the PC? Are they somehow different than the ports in the back? I do use the front ports for my external hard drive.

Am attaching 4 pics re the message because they list a bunch of ports and have no idea what they all are. I can't believe I have ALL those ports on my tower! And when it comes to just redoing the printer/keyboard/mouse connections - seems to me it would be a guessing game of plugging and replugging to find out what port is that enhanced fast port right?

I have been checking through all my manuals to see if they have a picture of all the ports and maybe notations of what they are - like this port is your enchanced fast port. But so far have not found anything - just pictures of how to set up the PC, the motherboard etc.

Not concerned about the message - just have been trying to find ways to speed up my PC. Seems very slow at times and this message seemed to be a way that I might do that. Thus the interest in trying to find out which port is that high speed one.

My next step will be to go online and see what I can find there. :?

here is the last (4th) pic of the ports. Confused by all these ports - am sure does not mean they are all on one PC.

An ethernet port is similar to a phone jack, but somewhat larger - that's what connects your computer to your modem. All the ports being referred to are your USB ports. We have the same case, so I know your front ports are two USB ports and a Firewire port. The ones in back are all part of your motherboard. Can you please go into your Device Manager and see if there are any yellow exclamation points anywhere in there? If you disconnect your EHD, do you still get the message?

What is the make and model of your exterior hard drive? Is it a new one? Also, can you tell me what make and model your motherboard is? Your last photo indicates there is one of the new USB 3.0 standard ports.

Yes, Rosaboobie, and you have one on your new laptop! So, when they starting making the peripheral components to take advantage of the blinding speed of USB 3.0, you will be ready! There are already some printers and EHDs out there.

My EHD is a Western Digital and rather old by 5-6 years, Model WD1200UQ17-003 which I do not leave plugged in except when in use. And have gotten those message with it out of any port.

Checked the hardware and nary a red or yellow flag a flyin'!

Motherboard is (believe I have read this right) a Ultra Durable TM 3 Motherboard Model GA-87A-UD3.
