New Kickstarter from Cyan

Postby Kickaha » Fri Mar 29, 2019 4:42 pm

Cyan have launched a Kickstarter for a new game “Firmament” - see https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1252280491/firmament. I’m not so likely to back this myself as they’re not planning a Mac release, at least not initially.

This one sounds good... like really good! I will have to think about it as I've sworn to take a Kickstarter "hiatus!"

I was excited when I saw this, but I won't be backing it because I saw no mention of a Mac version at all. If they ever come out with one, I'll buy it.

I’m not sure how well a game designed for VR will work with a normal desktop either.

Probably depends on how it's done. Xing The Land Beyond is a stellar game and just gorgeous on the PC. Someone at Gameboomers is playing it in VR on the desktop and says it's just stunning.

Cyan’s Kickstarter has reached its target for Firmament to be made. They also say in their latest update that they will commit to finding a way to make the game for Macs (PS4 and EFIGS).

Yes, I finally supported the game. They achieved their stretch goals which includes a Mac version.

It would have been almost a betrayal if they didn’t do a Mac version.

This game does indeed sound really really good - I wonder how long we will have to wait for it to be released?

The target date is July next year - they ought to know what they’re doing by now! But some slippage is inevitable with computer software.
